15 February 2002 Award opportunity for study overseas to benefit New Zealand

For over 20 years the Lincoln University Foundation has been providing travel and study awards for projects contributing significantly to New Zealand's land-based industries.

Project areas as diverse as the issue of chemical residues in greasy wool, refinements to artificial insemination techniques, peonies as a floriculture product, growing specifically Asian vegetables in New Zealand for export to Asian markets, technological advances in seed dressing, and improvements to the post-harvest treatment of fruit have all been supported by grants from the foundation.

On completion of their study projects the awardees must submit a report to the Foundation on their findings and the potential benefits.

Now applications are open for the 2002 round of awards. The principal criterion is that the proposed project must contribute significantly to the country's land-based industries.

The closing date for applications is 31 March 2002 and awards must be taken up no later than the end of March next year.

The awards are funded by Lincoln University Foundation which was established to mark Lincoln's centenary in 1978 and the aim is to help New Zealand by making travel, study or research opportunities available to people working in or with and contributing to the wealth of the primary sector.
