18 February 2004 Immigration Service Facility on Lincoln University Campus Expands Capability

In association with the New Zealand Immigration Service, Lincoln University has been piloting an on-campus electronic student permit application facility since mid-2003.

Initially the service was solely for Lincoln's returning international students so that they could obtain their necessary immigration study visas from the campus, without the delay of having to go into Christchurch city or elsewhere.

Now the service has been expanded and anyone who has a valid student permit for study in New Zealand, and intends enrolling at Lincoln University, can use the campus facility to obtain their visa, for example secondary school students or students coming to Lincoln University from other tertiary institutions in New Zealand.

Applications can generally be turned around within the week.

For the University the service means it now has a closer, more managed relationship with the Immigration Service. The single point of contact means any potential issues or problems can be addressed more rapidly, with faster processing and turnaround times.

The service operates out of Lincoln University's International Centre on the ground floor of the Forbes Building and Maryn Austin is the contact person.
