Feed people, feed the land: An exploration of agroforestry on Lincoln University Research Dairy Farm

Vision: Lincoln University will build an exhibition farm to show a future farming mode that is productive, sustainable and resilient. And the farm will cooperate with surrounding agricultural research institutes as an innovative education centre to encourage the wilder practice of agroforestry on the Canterbury plains and share the experiences to the public, such as sequestering carbon, increasing biodiversity, and recovering soil health.

Goals:

The project aims to explore agroforestry on the farm to realise the comprehensive development of agricultural production, forest restoration, water purification, and land rejuvenation.

The farm will contribute to increasing publice awareness of using the soil resource sustainably by providing education and research opportunities that could build a stronger connection between people and the land.
