2021 was a successful year for the University, despite the ongoing challenges and uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki Lincoln University’s Annual Report 2021 highlights our progress towards the six goals of the Lincoln University Strategy 2019 -2028 including key facts and figures, and reports on a solid financial performance.
The University’s domestic student numbers were well ahead of target for 2021, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels with a total of 3,483 students, a pleasing 28.9% up on 2020. While our international student numbers were down by 356 on 2020, this was largely offset by the increase in domestic student numbers ending the year with a satisfactory outcome. As New Zealand’s only specialist land-based university and with an 83% graduate employment rate, the highest of all NZ universities, we are pleased to be playing a pivotal role in driving the economy forward.
We remain firm in our belief that great learning and growth are realised through
generating impactful applied research, delivering industry-leading study programmes, offering state of the art modern learning environments and by establishing national and international partnerships and collaborations. This is reflected in the University ranking 372 out of 1300 universities in the 2022 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, and our performance in the Times Higher Education rankings for 2022 placing Lincoln in the 501-600 band, and ranking fifth equal in New Zealand
