Big turnout for Sunday fun day

Thousands came on campus to have a go at feeding piglets, shearing a sheep and scaling the climbing wall during Community Day and the Whare Hākinakina LU Gym Open Day, which were both held on Sunday.

Community Day was a free family fun event, held annually by Lincoln University and the Lincoln University Students’ Association (LUSA), with face painting, shearing, a petting zoo, bouncy castles and lots of other activities from LUSA clubs and the Children's University, as well as lots of food.

It also offered as a chance to look around the University campus and look at some of the new developments underway, view some student work, and tour the University's renowned art collection.

The LU Gym Open Day gave locals a chance to find out more about its facilities, such as the climbing wall, and have a free workout by lifting some weights, hopping on an exercise machine, or joining one of the many Les Mills classes.

Mike Bickley, of Woolley Baa Baa, gives a lesson to Suluk Segoru at a shearing demonstration.

Brooke Kenyon helps Arlo Stinson, 5, of Lincoln feed Spot, a kunekune piglet

Jason McIlurick helps his son Theo, 3, on the climbing wall in the LU Gym
