    Lincoln Professors Nicholas Dickinson and Simon Swaffield have been awarded the European League for Life Sciences (ELLS) Award for their work in ELLS Environmental Science and Landscape Architecture & Spatial Planning.
     
    Professor Swaffield ran an ELLS summer Landscape course in 2014 at Lincoln while Professor Dickinson ran summer ecology courses in 2015 and this year, and they were recognised at the ELLS annual conference at the University of Hohenheim on 10-12 November.
     
    Their work continues to support Lincoln University’s partnership with (ELLS) a network of leading Universities cooperating in the fields of Natural Resource Management , Agricultural and Forestry Sciences , Life Sciences, Veterinary Sciences , Food Sciences and Environmental Sciences  which involves a regular of exchange of students between the ELLS Universities.
     
    Lincoln was part of the first intake of partners in 2013 as membership is only available to European Union members, but it is in good company, with other partners Cornell University, China Agricultural University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
     
    Members include BOKU University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna,

    the University of Copenhagen, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Wageningen University and Research Centre.
    The focus of ELLS is on joint teaching and learning, student and staff mobility, and quality assurance, to produce highly qualified graduates who are prepared for the demands of the European and international market.
     
    Lincoln will be running an ELLS summer course from 16-31 August, “Issues in Agro-Environmental Management”, with a case study on the University’s High Country Farm, Mt Grand, Otago.
