The Monkey Puzzle (Araucaria imbricata). Planted when the College was founded, three monkey puzzles (two males and one female) grew in a copse with deciduous trees in front of Ivey Hall until 1958, when all the trees, except one monkey puzzle, were removed to clear the site for the Forbes Memorial Library. In 1956, Ruth Burns collected seed from these College monkey puzzles and grew eight seedlings: six were given away, and two were planted in the front garden of the Lodge. (Source: Burns, Ruth A.
