18 March 1985 Sire and breed selection workshop to be held at Lincoln College

Sire and breed selection will be the central topic at the Lincoln College animal industries workshop being held at the college in July.

The workshop is expected to attract commercial farmers and others involved in sire and breed selection, as well as veterinarians, advisers and stock agents.

Discussion at the workshop will cover basic principles of inheritance, measuring and using animal variation in important traits, and using performance records.

Identifying progressive breeders of rams and bulls, and principles and uses of crossbreeding will also be dealt with.

Leading New Zealand authorities in sire and breed selection will present papers at the workshop, and these papers will be published as a booklet.

The workshop will run for three days from July 11 until July 13. More details will be released later.
