23 May 1985 Graduation student figures analysed

Students who went to schools in the North Island made up more than one third of the New Zealanders who graduated from Lincoln College at this year's graduation ceremony, the College Council meeting was told today.

The Principal, Professor Bruce Ross, said that 187, or 34 per cent, of the New Zealanders who graduated had attended North Island secondary schools.

Most went to schools in the two main cities, with 57 from Wellington and 56 from Auckland.

Most of the graduates who went to South Island schools went to schools in Canterbury : 209 out of the 371 South Island secondary school-educated student .

Otago sent 73 of the students to Lincoln College, Southland and Waikato 29 each, and Northland and Hawkes Bay 14 each.

Eleven of the students went to school in Marlborough, eight in Bay of Plenty, five each came from Westland and Poverty Bay, while only four came from Taranaki schools.
