19 November 1985 Finance and accounting courses made available to Bachelor of Commerce students

Bachelor of Commerce students at Lincoln College will be able to take finance and accounting subjects from next year to qualify them for entry to the New Zealand Society of Accountants.

Finance and accounting are among several new subject options being offered to students following revision of College regulations.

Professor of Finance and Accounting Roger Juchau says the finance and accounting subjects reflect contemporary practices and ideas.

Modern teaching strategies are used and these involve computers, case studies, workshops and professional seminars.

According to Professor Juchau the new developments in commerce at Lincoln College will provide a valuable source of quality professionals.

"There is a lack of qualified personnel in the finance and accounting sector in New Zealand."

Professor Juchau said the fine scholastic tradition and high academic standing of Lincoln College made the college a highly-desirable place for this development in accounting.

The college, on the outskirts of Christchurch, had an attractive campus location close to the cultural activities of the city and the recreational opportunities of the nearby coastal and mountain regions, he said.
