7 Feb 1986 Preliminary results of the AERU survey of farmer intentions and opinions

Seventy per cent of farmers surveyed recently by the Agricultural Economics Research Unit at Lincoln College believe the market value of their farms dropped in the year between December 1984 and last December.

This is shown in preliminary results of the annual AERU survey of farmer intentions and opinions.

Twenty per cent of those surveyed said the market value of their farms had not changed in the year, and only 10 per cent their farms had increased in value.

Nearly one-third of the farmers said the value of their farms had fallen by between 10 per cent and 25 per cent.

Eighteen per cent put the drop in value at more than 25 per cent, and 21 per cent of them said the value of their farms had fallen by up to 10 per cent.

Final figures will be published in and AERU report later this year.
