12 Feb 1986 Kellogg Farm management offer seminars on computer use

Farmers around New Plymouth, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Levin and Taihape have been invited by the Lincoln College Kellogg Farm Management Unit to seminars on improving property management by using computers.

Leading the seminars in those towns will be 23-year-old Sheryl Frew, distribution officer with the Kellogg Unit.

Sheryl will be demonstrating software programs on financial recording, financial budgeting, production recording, and livestock recording,.

Farmers going along to the seminars will hear how computers can be used on the farm, and they will also get the chance to use a computer. 

While in the region Sheryl will also put on a computer display at the horticultural field days at Levin on February 21 and 22.

She will hold her first seminar at New Plymouth on Friday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Westtown Motor Hotel.

Final seminar of the series in the region will be at Taihape on Tuesday evening from 8 until 10 at Utiku Old Boys Rugby Clubrooms.

On Monday February 17 the seminar will be in the Davis Lecture Theatre at Wanganui Museum from 8 p.m until 10 p.m.

There will be two seminars on Tuesday February 18 : from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Massey University, and from 7.30 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. at Levin Horticultural Centre.

At Massey University the seminar will be held at the Agricultural-Horticultural facility.

Sheryl, who comes from a farm at Waimate in South Canterbury, has a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce degree in Farm Management from Lincoln College.

She has also worked on farms at Morrinsville, in the Hakataramea Valley in North Otago, at Waimahaka in Southland, and at Ikawai in South Canterbury.
