13 March 1986 Kellogg hold seminars on computer use on farms

Seminars on using computers to improve property management are being held in Hamilton, Matamata, Tauranga and Rotorua by the Kellogg Farm Management Unit of Lincoln College next week (from Monday March 17).

Invitations to the seminars have gone out to farmers in districts around those centres.

Twenty-three-year-old Sheryl Frew, who is distribution officer with the unit, will lead the seminars.

She will demonstrate software programs on financial recording, financial budgeting, production recording and livestock recording.

Those who go along to the seminars will hear how computers can be used on the farm.

The first seminar will be on Monday (March 17) from 1-3 p.m. in the conference room of the Ruakura Research Station.

On Tuesday there will be two seminars from 10 a.m. until noon, and 1-3 p. m. - in the Tainui Room of the Memorial  Centre at Matamata.

There will also be two seminars, at the same times, on Wednesday at the Erinlea Lounge in Tauranga.

The last seminar of the week will be in Rotorua at the Travelodge from 1-3 p.m.

Sheryl, who comes from a farm at Waimate in South Canterbury, has a Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce degree in Farm
Management from Lincoln College.

She joined the Kellogg unit in September last year, after having worked on farms at Morrinsville, in the Hakataramea Valley in North Otago, at Waimahaka in Southland, and at Ikawai in South Canterbury.
