Havelock will be an unmissable place to visit when passing through Marlborough for a coffee, lunch or longer. Impromptu visitors will be pleasantly surprised by the bustling, distinctly local feeling town and will leave feeling they have had an authentic Marlborough Sounds experience. They will stay longer than anticipated and will plan to return soon to explore more. Traffic slows naturally when entering on SH6 and drivers are enticed down through a bustling village to a vibrant and picturesque public waterfront. The local community will enjoy improved pedestrian connectivity, better access to natural amenity, and the social and economic benefits of higher visitor numbers. Finally, the town will adapt to sea level rise and have a more sustainable relationship to the natural environment to ensure the continued prosperity of Havelock for future generations.

Goals: - Ensure the marina will continue to function with an 80 cm sea level rise. - make the most of the asset that is the marina, for the local community, the land owner, and for visitors. - Draw travellers from SH6 onto Neil St and to the marina. - Clean storm water from high traffic road surfaces. - Increase legibility of paths, both pedestrian and vehicular. - Create opportunities for visitors to have an authentic, local experience. - Lever off existing natural amenity to provide options for toursit activities.
