20 October 2009 Costumes steal the show at Lincoln University's Garden Party

It was as if a wearable arts show had come to Lincoln University! This year's Garden Party  -  the annual celebration organised by Lincoln University Students' Association to mark the end of lectures  -  served up some dressy combos!

Costumes and bands are themes which have seen the old-style Lincoln University Garden Party morph into a modern music festival with top groups providing plenty of all-round sound and the students excelling with imaginative costumes.

Top music billing went to bands Deja Voodoo and Cornerstone Roots, with XLR8 and Lincoln University's own Dub maestro Carl in full support.

Top among the costumes? "Well we've given up trying to make awards," says LUSA Activities Manager Jo Meyer. "It's just not practical. There are so many great ones."

With 2500 tickets printed, Garden Party was a sizeable event but it won praise for organisation and atmosphere from Lincoln's students and also from those visiting from other universities.
