All the nominees proved winners at a recent event sponsored by Lincoln University.
Junior Sportsmen, Junior Sportswomen and Junior Sports Team of the Year nominees – 27 in total –were recognised as belonging to the best of the best, at the ORIX New Zealand Canterbury Sports Awards 2021, held on 10 May at Hagley Oval.
The focus of the category is on their achievement, rather than narrowing the group down to finalists or winners, which in the past meant judging “sport versus sport.”
Lincoln University has an extensive Sports Scholarship programme as well as encouraging social sport among its students. Balance between study, training, and leisure activities, is an important aspect in both.It also has a Sport and Recreation teaching specialisation, and students are actively involved in encouraging youth participation in sport as part of their programmes.
Lincoln University supports Sport Canterbury through its sponsorship of the category, to find ways to ensure its Balance Is Better philosophy is normalised, and this year’s ORIX New Zealand Canterbury Sports Awards programme was a platform to ensure the message is clear.
Congratulations to all the sportspeople recognised. You can read the full list here.
