20 October 2021 Olympic NZ CEO helps mark Sport and Recreation Forum milestone

The annual Forum, which runs from 1pm to 3pm, is in its 10th year in 2021.

From 12pm-1pm there will also be a “speed meeting” session where professionals discuss careers, volunteering and job opportunities with current students and recent graduates.

Kereyn will talk about Olympic sport at the event, which was first held only 18 months after the February 2011 earthquake in Canterbury as a way to bring the sector together.

The topical theme for the first panel discussion at the inaugural forum was the future provision of sport and recreation in post-recovery Christchurch.

The Forum has seen a multitude of students presenting on their research, as well as influential speakers from the sport and recreation sector discuss a range of topics over the last decade.

This year it also features a debate, with staff, alumni and industry representatives on whether sport and recreation has improved over the past 10 years.

Afterwards, there is an opportunity for sector professionals, staff and students to network during afternoon tea as well as tour the new LU Gym.

A Lincoln University sport and recreation qualification opens a host of career opportunities in a fast-moving industry, from working in non-profit or professional sporting organisations to forging a career in outdoor recreation, public health, or the management of sports events and facilities. We grow students to take their place in a sector desperately needing more graduates.

This is a free event, open to Lincoln students and staff, sport and recreation sector professionals, and anyone interested in the area.

*Please note this event will take place under COVID-19 Alert Level 1 (as normal) or Alert Level 2 only. Under Level 2, the in-person tickets will be limited to  the first 100 people to RSVP, and at the event, participants will be requested to wear masks and although there will be no afternoon tea or cake, there will still be networking.
