3 December 1984 Animal industries workshop to be held at Lincoln College in 1985

Animal breeding will be the topic at animal industries workshop – the fourth in the series at Lincoln College next year.

The workshop, to be held from July 11 to July 13, should attract commercial farmers buying rams and bulls for flocks and herds.

There will be special sessions for veterinarians, advisers and agents who help farmers decide on animal breeding.

All papers will be published before being presented at the workshop.

Small group workshops will take up most of the second day of the program.

Those in the small groups will talk about solving problems and exchange ideas on breeding.

If they choose, they may go along to a practical session on animal selection.

As well as ways of using performance records, other topics to be dealt with during the three days will be the background to recording systems, the genetic basis of inheritance and control over the rate of genetic change, the theory and practice of cross breeding, and maintaining crossbred herds.
