Design Vision: 

Carters Beach, Westport 2065 will be a model for how low-lying coastal communities respond and adapt to severe erosion and the impacts of climate change. As the coastline continues to march inland at a rate of 3-5m per years Carters Beach responds with an adaptable model that moves with the fluctuating coastline. Carters Beach will become a new tourist hub for the Buller Region, helping reinvigorate the economy after the downfall of key coal and cement industries.

Community vibrancy will be enhanced by establishing a village centre of benefit to both residents and visitors. The idea of movement and fluctuation is celebrated throughout from art to architecture, giving Carters Beach a new defined sense of place. Biodiversity values are enhanced throughout blending Carters Beach into the surrounding lush landscape.
