    John Kenneth Macfarlane was a student at the College in 1905. After leaving Lincoln he farmed at Coldstream, Rangiora, before taking over The Sisters property near Parnassus, North Canterbury. He farmed there for more than 30 years and was a highly respected member of the North Canterbury farm community. He developed a notable Corriedale stud and was a very successful woolgrower. He was always keenly interested in sport, especially following Rugby, cricket, golf and shooting. He died on July 25th, 1953 and survived by his wife and one son, who continue to live at The Sisters, Parnassus, 1953.
