29 January 2013 Lincoln University looks to the future

Lincoln University today commenced reform of its portfolio of qualifications to strengthen its role as New Zealand’s specialist land-based university.

“Our aim is to simplify and focus our offering to students and our support for the land-based industries. National and global need for specialist skills in areas such as food production and processing, agribusiness, environmental management, landscape integrity and urbanisation will grow and Lincoln University intends to be well-positioned to help countries meet demand for these skills” says Vice-Chancellor Dr Andrew West.

“The best intellect I can put into this project is that of the University’s staff who will now help develop the new qualification portfolio through an open, consultative process,” says Dr West.

A key aspect of the consultation will be with the student body and President of the Lincoln University Students’ Association, Kent Lloyd, welcomes the opportunity: “LUSA is looking forward to being involved in this process and helping students to have a say in the future of Lincoln University.”

Development of the new qualifications portfolio will take a number of weeks during which students, businesses, industries and levels of government (local and international) will be asked to contribute to the design.
