23 August 2010 Poetry reading and other activities mark National Library Week

National Library Week was marked last week in local libraries in Selwyn. In the George Forbes Memorial Library in Ivey Hall at Lincoln University the week featured a series of lunchtime activities for students and staff, organised by Liz Hamilton and Lyndsay Ainsworth. These covered poetry and book readings, a nature photography exhibition, a quiz, a membership visit by Selwyn libraries staff, and a "blind date with a book" opportunity.

 

Lincoln University staff members and poetry enthusiasts Ian Collins and Farhad Dastgheib opened the week with a poetry reading. The reading from Mr Muggs the library Cat, the book read in all libraries in New Zealand during the week, was given by Lincoln University staff member Dan Dennehy.
