1 July 2010 Words of welcome from Vice-Chancellor for Open Day Programme

It is a pleasure to welcome you warmly to Lincoln University's 2010 Open Day. I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us today and that you find the visit informative and productive.

Our staff have organised a comprehensive programme for you touching on all the important aspects of campus and academic life at Lincoln University. I am confident it will provide a useful foundation as you, or a family member or friend, make those very important decisions about were and what to study.

Be sure to see, hear and engage with as much as you can while you are with us on Open Day. There is certainly plenty on the programme including science laboratory demonstrations from our wine, food and soils work; short lectures by Commerce Faculty staff on topics such as property, marketing, economics and business management; and at the Recreation Centre our Sports Scholars doing skills and conditioning training.

As you walk around the campus today, and look at Ivey Hall in particular, you might like to reflect that it is 130 years ago this week since Lincoln University first opened - as a School of Agriculture. Now here we are today, New Zealand's specialist land-based university and the country's third oldest-established university institution. We've come a long way, and we would welcome you joining us on the journey forward into future.
