Throughout the exploration of case studies it was clear that my passion as a designer was beginning to focus towards landscapes of preservation. Whether it was the preservation of habitats, history, culture, the landscapes or its people, my preference for design is to respond to change in the sense of preservation. Climate change is at the forefront issues at a global scale and unfortunately New Zealand is one of the first to feel its impact. In a country, where our kiwi culture is optimised by a beautiful coastline, its preservation is important for the present generation to continue strengthening its environment to allow our future generations to have the ability to experience the same beauty we have While Christchurch's landscape is unique in the sense it has undergone change at an intense level over a short time period, the notion of change over a longer time span has been neglected, all interventions have a very temporal nature and may not withstand further pressure. What are the existing impacts of that intense change over a short time span and how do the more traditional and less advance places of Aotearoa respond to that pressure without loosing its identity?
