This is a place have rich characters, from the gentle flow inside of the harbour to dynamic sea outside of the harbour, from man-made industry to the natural mountain landscape.

Lyttelton Port strengthen the identity of the place, bring profit to the town. However, the dominance of these light industry emphasizes this is a port town rather than a coastal town. How to bring those missing elements back, what is the win-win solution for both the community and the port to create a coastal port town is the core of this project.

The project begins with identity and change current land use, which will fundamentally reduce the conflict between the public and the port, thus improve the circulation of the site.

Solve issue and design in site level: Phytoremediation (plant-based remediation) process for petroleum storage area, and log storage area. Reconnect people with water by coastal walk (include head to head walkway), tidal stairs, wharf structure etc. Create habitat for terrestrial and aquatic life.
