Prebbleton: Active Ageing - Wan Fang

The people are currently experiencing what is also a global phenomenon - an ageing population. The large cohort of baby boomers, who born in the 20 years following WWII, are starting to reach retirement age and the implications are significant. This plan is providing a mode to Prebbleton that can ensure the community are well-placed to meet the needs of an ageing population and provide an attractive place that elderly people to live in their familiar community as long as possible to grow old. 

Prebbleton is situated at the eastern edge of the Selwyn district, close to the boundary with Christchurch. The township straddles Springs Road which is an arterial route between Christchurch and Lincoln. 

Vision: Create a full-service retirement community in Prebbleton that offers a complete lifestyle package for the residents to achieve Prebbleton "ageing in place" and "full-age community", and improve their life quality by planning and design.

• Driver1. Create a full-service retirement village community, which is run by the government organization or private company. The full-service retirement village indicates that a community care system integrating five elements (i.e. housing, medical care, long-term care, prevention and life support services), which are organically related and should be closely coordinated with one another.
• Driver2. Complete infrastructures for both ageing people and other residents of Prebbleton on three aspects: life, health and culture.
