An enthusiastic group of current, former and aspiring Study Abroad students recently attended a campus Happy Hour networking session aimed at discussing their overseas study experiences and planning future exchange trips.
Attendees were a mix of international visitors and local students who had either already embarked on a Study Abroad adventure or were considering doing so.
The Happy Hour was held at Lincoln University’s café, Mrs O’s, where students received a complimentary beverage and nibbles as they chatted about the benefits of international exchange schemes.
The event included a photo competition, with international Study Abroad students submitting the best snaps they had taken during their travels in New Zealand.
Everyone voted for their favourites and the winners were presented with Lincoln University merchandise.
Ali Stoaddard, of Colorado State University, took the winning snap (pictured right, entitled ‘Stars at Okains Bay’) while Michaela Bethard, also of Colorado State, won second place with her image of a sunset at Lake Waihola.
Third equal went to Cornell University’s Thatcher Mowry, for his shot of the Queenstown bungy experience, and Jake Erker (another Colorado State student), for a photo he took during a visit to Fox Glacier.
The Study Abroad programme allows international undergraduate and postgraduate students to attend Lincoln for a semester or a year.
Lincoln-based students can take advantage of the programme too by spending a semester or year at an overseas university.
All Study Abroad students are able to transfer the credit from their overseas studies to their degrees at home.
