The 2018 Lincoln University Postgraduate Conference wound up yesterday after three days of research presentations highlighting the diversity of topics covered at Lincoln.
Postgraduates students from all three faculties addressed their peers and teachers, and discussed their work: from soil acidity to bank regulation, bacteriophages to disaster risk management, to fungi in cabbages.
The event started on Thursday in Mrs O’s and was opened by Professor Charles Brennan, Director of the Lincoln University Postgraduate School.
He said the annual event showcased the ground breaking research undertaken by our postgraduate students, under the guidance of Lincoln University supervisors and contributions from our partners in CRIs and industry throughout the world.
“The postgraduate students at Lincoln University are the backbone of our institutional reputation for innovation and research. It is the dedication and resourcefulness of our students which creates our research led pedagogical ethos, and enables Lincoln University to be recognised as one of the leading research active universities in Australasia.”
He said since 2015 Lincoln University has seen a constant increase in postgraduate student numbers “and we now have the most PhD students ever at our University”.
Professor Brennan said the conference is a very special occasion for all of the postgraduate students participating, either as oral speakers, poster presenters or audience participants.
“A big thank you goes out to the conference organising committee for putting on another thought provoking collection of research presentations.”
