Over 40 years of teaching Parks and Recreation at Lincoln, one of the University’s renowned flagship courses, was celebrated on Wednesday night with a campus gathering of over 80 alumni and VIP guests.
Among the speakers was the Director-General of Conservation, Lou Sanson, who was delighted with the calibre of the current students awarded Department of Conservation scholarships, and confirmed the permanency of the department’s seven $5000 scholarships tenable at Lincoln.
Attendees included graduates from the earliest Parks and Recreation classes, such as Bruce Jefferies, through to current students DOC scholarship holders.
Professor David Simmons, long associated with the course, drew attention to its global reach, particularly the huge influence in their homeland of its Nepali graduates.
Honoured guest was the doyen of Parks and Recreation at Lincoln University, Dr Pat Devlin.
