Three Lincoln academics are part of a guest lecture series and academic conclave in India next week highlighting New Zealand’s educational opportunities.
The series, organised by Education New Zealand, features academics from several New Zealand Universities, and runs from 21-28 August in New Delhi.
The Lincoln trio will present at the series and be part of a workshop discussion panel at the conclave.
Associate Professor Hamish Rennie, Faculty of Environment, Society and Design, is an expert in environmental policy and planning, coastal and marine tourism geography, management, and planning. He will present on This River is a Person! A revolutionary developmentin environmental planning? and also be part of a panel discussing Smart Cities Missions: Ensuring public participation in environmental planning?
Professor in Toxicology at the Department of Wine, Food and Molecular, Ravi Gooneratne, will be part of a panel in a workshop discussion on Key issues affecting: Nutrition in Asian population and lecture on thee Impact of Climate Change on Future Food Safety and Security & the Agricultural sector in Asian Countries.
Professor Gooneratne is involved in teaching and research in toxicology including food and environment toxicology, food safety and security, animal health and animal physiology. His research includes developing biomarkers/biosensors for environmental contaminants and heavy metal metabolism in a variety of animal species.
Dr Joanna Fountain, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Tourism, Sport and Society, will speak on Leveraging food and culinary tourism for sustainable destination development, and be part of the workshop panel looking at Research collaboration and innovation between NZ and Indian Business Schools – Potential and Pathways.
She is a social scientist specialising in wine tourism and cultural heritage research and her research areas include wine tourism, Chinese tourists, Generation Y and cultural heritage.
The lecture series is being held in several venues, including G D Goenka University, TERI University and Delhi Technological University (DTU).
