Grounded, Lincoln University’s new espresso bar is officially open for business, in the new student social space on the ground floor of the central Forbes building.
The name Grounded was voted as the favourite by a number of staff and students. It plays on the espresso bar being on the ground floor of Forbes, as well as referencing the sounds of coffee beans being ground.
It is also speaks to a place where students are able to get “grounded”. A place they can chill and hang out in, a spacious and contemporary space located in the heart of the campus.
Featuring two varieties of coffee blends, the Gravity Fair Trade is the chosen daily staple blend, with the second blend having a different flavour profile and changing out every six weeks. Sourced from fair trade, sustainable growers, the story on each of the coffees will be available.
While customers are encouraged to BYO cups for hot drinks, there are new, eco-friendly keep cups from IdealCup for sale, promoting minimal waste. Eco-friendly disposable plates, cutlery, serviettes and bags sourced from local suppliers will also be used.
