Avon/Otakaro River Park: The Avon Loop section of the Avon/ Otakaro river park will provide world class public
space and extensive habitat for aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

Healthy Avon- Storm Water Management: Storm water from roadways which would usually be diverted straight into the Avon passes through an oil- grit separator as a first means of treatment, then through subsurface wetland. The storm water then passes through a succession of reed beds which utilize the vegetation as a filtration mechanism before passing into the constructed wetland system.

Highly Connected: The seamless Avon River pathway provides a key commuter route to the city from
the easts. Three new river crossings provide new connections to the West, North and East creating new connections to Peterborough village, North CBD and bridging the barrier of Fitzgerald Avenue to the Avon/Otakaro River park. A weaving and dissecting network of pathways brings users to and through the different elements and attractions of the site.

Vibrant Resilient Urban Living: A wide range of residents will call the Avon Loop home. A number of key interventions have been proposed to meet their needs and respond to the dynamic landscape. Community gardens, an orchard, a community centre, and shared amenities will service their needs.
