Addington - Wanjun Du

ADDINGTON is a suburb located adjacent to the Christchurch CBD. It is considered a quiet and working-class neighbourhood. However, Addington is growing and changing rapidly. It is a busy working hub attracting more people to work and visit. It has a mix of residential and commercial areas and light industrial properties. A range of attractions are located in Addington, such as Addington Raceway and AMI Stadium. Hagley Park, the largest urban open space in Christchurch is just situated to the north of Addington. As the home of the only railway station which serves the tourist line in Christchurch, it is a gateway to tourists who arrive by train.

The 2011 Christchurch Earthquake caused a lot of damage to the city, however, developments have been proposed to bring variety back to this injured Garden City. According to the Central Christchurch Recovery Plan, a diverse central city will be developed to contribute to a greater Christchurch. The population of Christchurch and its satellite towns is increasing. In the future, more people will work and live in the city centre. Therefore, an efficient transport network has to be developed to accommodate the overall development of Christchurch.

DESIGN VISION: To create a vibrant public space that works for tourists and residents where various transit modes are well connected.
