Avon Riverfront Plan - Bo Zhao

Christchurch is the major design proposal site and known for its English heritage, is located on east coast of New Zealand South Island. And flat bottomed punts glide on the Avon River, which cross through the city centre from west to east. There are cycling paths, green expanse of Hagley Park and Christchurch Botanic Gardens along the riverfornt. In 2010 and 2011, earthquakes destroyed many of the historic centre's stone-built buildings. Now Christchurch City is getting ready to rebuild in order to become green and ecological city in the future.

Design Vision:  To use minimal intervention as design principles for building the green infrastructures networks, which can protect and enhance critical natural and culture process of urban areas, in order to reduce the effects of climate change especially to adapt flooding of Avon River and is able to reconnect urbanism to the Avon River.

Goals: 

1. Create eco-infrasturctures - Wetland 
2. Reconnect urban to avon river
3. Iprove birds biodiversity and habitats
