The Governor-General, Lord Cobham, at the opening of the George Forbes Memorial Library building.

The central feature of the library is an enclosed courtyard, in which is located the memorial stone commemorating the services to New Zealand agriculture of Mr George Forbes, a former prime minister. The building was officially opened by the Governor-General, Lord Cobham.
