Lincoln presents hi-tech digital 'walk about' opportunity

Imagine a three-dimensional image on your computer screen allowing you to ‘walk’ around and explore sites and locations free from the constraints of two-dimensional representation.

It's a tool you will be able to see and hear about at the Lincoln University stand at Gardenz thanks to staff of the University's Landscape Architecture Group who have been exploring the potential of computers using VRML – Virtual Reality Mark-up Language – for design work.

They will have part of a three-dimensional digital model of Lincoln University on hand which visitors will be able to ‘walk around’ and explore at the simple click of a mouse.

Lincoln University's display at Gardenz will in fact be a ‘hi-tech’ one, featuring project work using three-dimensional animation software which landscape students now use in both design development and design communication.

It will be an opportunity to explore aspects of the Lincoln landscape paper LASC 317 Applications of Design Process which is one of the papers offered in the University's January Summer School along with the paper LASC 108 Introduction to Design.

Lincoln's Landscape Group is in fact offering four papers at Summer School in January and you will be able to discuss the opportunities available for study with University staff at Gardenz.
