Strategy:
A staged retreat/relocate for the community members most at risk of the rising sea level. To encourage moving to the safer development subsidised housing will be available, prioritising the community members and encouraging a diverse community.
As residential areas are retreated land will be returned into it's historical ecosystem. The sand dunes are to be expanded to act as natural protection to the New Brighton community, also adding to the character of the area. The community will be involved with the restoration, supplied with plants which will in the near future help support the bird populations and aid with the dune restoration.
Vegetation throughout the community will encourage New Zealand native wetland and sea bird population growth in the area .
Public Transport will be very accessible and easy to use, being the most direct transport into the community .
