About
Much regret was felt when we heard of the untimely demise of our young friend Richard E. Wilde who left with the 25th Reinforcements, and saw fighting round Ypres, from where he was invalided with severe laryngitis. He rejoined and was at the taking of Bapaume, and was at Morwal Forest, when the Armistice was declared. He marched through Belgium to Cologne, where he met his death through a rifle accident on January 15th, 1919. Source: Canterbury Agricultural College Magazine, June 1921, p794.
