About
Canterbury Agricultural College student (1912-1913)
Corporal Donald Bennett Lane, who left with the 16th Waikato Company, was killed in action at the Dardanelles. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, and afterwards at the Auckland Technical School. Previously to coming to Lincoln he was farming in the Auckland district. After he had been at College for a year he farmed in the Lincoln district for awhile, and subsequently returned to Auckland, where he was farming at the time of his enlistment. A keen sport, he took a great interest in the sports at the various schools with which he was connected. We regret deeply to add his name to the rapidly lengthening list of those Old Boys who have given their lives in this high cause. Source: Canterbury Agricultural College Magazine, June 1917, p408.
