Thomas Lancaster Steele enrolled in the Diploma course at Canterbury Agricultural College in January 1914 aged 22. He was lost in air combat in Palestine on 10 April 1918.

Enlisted on 13th February 1915. Joined on Canterbury Mounted Rifles 5th Reinforcements.
