     D. B. Lawson(1961-66 BAgrSc, MAgrSc, OAM), the Alumni International Medallist, 2007. Returning to his native Australia after his Lincoln College studies, Don lectured at Marcus Oldham College, and in 1968 bought a rabbit-infested farm with his father and has, over the years established an Angus stud. He is a past Councillor of the Shire of Yea and is involved in consulting in the Middle East and the Pacific Islands on rural projects for major public companies. Don is currently chairman of HotCross Genetics, a company producing designer genetics for the Queensland beef industry, using the Charolais and Senepol breeds in a cross-breeding programme instigated by son, Tom Lawson. Today Don and Jenny’s sons run one of the largest Angus seedstock operations in Australia. In 1992, Don was awarded the Howard Yelland Award for Services to the Australian Beef Industry and in 2002 he received the honour of an Order of Australia Medal for services to the beef industry.
