Improving irrigation water allocations in pastoral farming

    Expand/collapse
DescriptionImproving irrigation water allocations in pastoral farming. Agricultural irrigation uses around 80 percent of all the water ‘consumed’ in New Zealand. Surprisingly, for a water conscious nation that prides itself on a scientific approach to farming, there is significant uncertainty in the methods used by water-allocating regional authorities to estimate actual water required for productive pasture growth. Project: Improving the efficiency of the allocation and use of pasture irrigation water. Researchers: Associate Professor Graeme Buchan, Professor Derrick Moot, Dr John Bright and Jenna Donaggio (Aqualinc Research Ltd).Corporate AuthorLincoln UniversityPersonG. BuchanD. MootJ. BrightJ.
