Lincoln University’s 42 Future Leader Scholars are still working together on their leadership journey despite not being able to meet face-to-face.
The scholarship programme aims to support and develop leadership in students who are actively contributing to the University and the wider community and produce well-rounded, open-minded, conscious leaders.
The scholars have a Wellbeing Committee posting wellbeing-focused activities through the lockdown for each other and the wider community.
Committee member Zee Hammond-Walker said they had brainstormed, and decided to engage their fellow scholars by putting activities online twice weekly.
“Our first creation has been our poster celebrating gratitude. Our second activity is a poster showcasing what we are currently doing to stay well, in alignment with the Mental Health Foundation's Five Ways of Wellbeing model-Connect, Be Active, Give, Take Notice and Keep Learning.”
They are happy to share their messages.
“We encourage our resources to be used, and we suggest ways such as printing them and placing them around your space, setting them as a device background, sharing them with people who need a hand and discussing the questions we ask within your 'bubble'.”
“The aim of our creations is to demonstrate that we are all going through this together, and we can help one another by staying apart in distance, yet staying connected in other ways. Learning new coping mechanisms or reflecting on your own can be incredibly helpful and engaging,” Zee said.
“Stay tuned to see our creations.”
Recognising that we can be grateful for family, technology, warm blankets and the sun rising after even the darkest nights might be helpful for us all in lockdown.
