Two coaches instrumental in Lincoln University’s rugby rejuvenation, and a staff member central to the success of the New Zealand Scholars programme, were presented with Lincoln University Medals this week.
Jon Haggart, Dave Perrin and Sue Bowie were given the awards for the exceptional support they have provided the university, at a council meeting on Tuesday, 24 November, by Chancellor Bruce Gemmell.
John and Dave together gave the Lincoln University Rugby Club a high profile in New Zealand, and created a great pathway for young people to develop, over seven years from 2011. They guided the club to three Metro premier rugby titles along the way, with Lincoln last claiming a title in 1981.
Both have given a large time commitment to Lincoln rugby, and are dedicated to its success.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) Scholarships Advisor, Sue Bowie, has been at Lincoln University for 26 years.
The scholarships allows students to come to New Zealand universities to enhance their skills and knowledge, contribute to the economic and social development of their home countries, and to grow their potential as leaders.
Sue has enhanced the student experience for the scholars by organising Orientation for their arrival, and a Completion Ceremony for a memorable finale to their studies, and her door is always open to them.
