The AM Show was live at Lincoln University this morning to interview one of our great volunteer fire officers.
Senior Tutor Roger McLenaghen is Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the Lincoln Volunteer Brigade and appeared on the AM Show due to a volunteer employer recognition campaign organised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
Three faculty members and one student at Lincoln University are members of the brigade and each take turns to be on call during work hours.
They are provided with four priority cark parks so they can quickly respond to any emergencies and their presence means that the local brigade has a good knowledge of the campus and student living quarters, which is useful for potential incidents.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Bruce McKenzie says the brigade is extremely beneficial to the university and the wider community and that Lincoln is proud to support staff and students in providing the much-needed service.
