The redevelopment of Lincoln University’s Sport and Recreation Centre will take a big step forward on Monday 8 June, with the first concrete pour of the floor slab for the building extension.
330 cubic metres of concrete will be delivered to the site by 60 – 70 trucks over a period of around six hours, starting at 4:00AM.
A second and final pour of the floor slab is scheduled for 22 June, after which construction of the steel framing will begin to take shape.
In mid-May the middle core of the Rec Centre building, comprising the reception area and changing rooms, was demolished to make way for the new building extension.
Measuring 855m², the new floor slab will almost double the area of the previous space.
The redeveloped Sport and Recreation Centre will deliver a safe, modern recreational facility where students, staff and the wider Lincoln community can gather to advance their physical and mental wellbeing.
The Sport and Recreation Centre is part of a wider campus development programme for Lincoln that has already seen the launch of new student social spaces, landscaping projects and a series of smaller general projects across campus that are designed to enhance the vibrancy of the campus and promote a positive learning, teaching and research community.
