Federated Farmers Southland Vice-President Bernadette Hunt took out the Lincoln University sponsored leadership category at the Primary Industries New Zealand Awards in Wellington on Monday night.
The event recognises the innovative efforts and success of individuals and companies from producer groups around the country, and Lincoln University Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Bruce McKenzie was on hand to present the Primary Industries Leadership Award on 23 November.
It highlighted Mrs Hunt’s commitment to advocating for farming, “particularly given her efforts to highlight the challenges farmers faced nationally measuring up to the Government’s new freshwater regulations”.
Lincoln University had been training leaders for the primary industry sector for more than 140 years, and continues to do so, offering a wide-range of fee-waivered diplomas in horticulture and agriculture, as well as postgraduate qualifications.
