Student contributions honoured at annual awards
    Date24th August 2020Lincoln University

The Lincoln University Blues and Golds Awards recognise the outstanding contributions of our students in sport and in the community.

Nominations for the 2020 awards, on Monday 12 October, are now open until 20 September, and are accepted from Lincoln staff and students, their coaches and sports administrators, as well as self-nominations.

Blues are awarded for athletic and sporting excellence, often for being named in national teams or squads, while Golds are given for significant contribution to arts or culture, or service to the community.

It is the university’s chance to say well done and thanks for going the extra mile, we are proud of you.

Sportsperson of the Year is one of the sought-after awards also presented at the event, in 2019 going to Calum Woodill who won two bronze medals in the ITF Tae Kwon Do World Championships.

Gold winners last year included Lincoln Volunteer Fire Brigade member Ollie Rutland Sims, and Ishakau Haruna, who has run a project in rural Nigeria since 2015 to improve the quality of education there.
