Lincoln University sports scholars are going for gold in the National Track and Field Championships, in Christchurch next week.
Runners Anna Hayward, Sean Eustace and Dylan Forde will be on the start-line while jumper Andrew Allan will also be leaping for glory.
Lincoln University is a supporting partner of the championships, as well as teaming up with Athletics New Zealand to bring the Lincoln University Street Athletics Festival to Christchurch, which features Olympians Tom Walsh and Eliza McCartney, two days before the nationals.
Bachelor of Agricultural Science student Anna is the 2018 Canterbury Sprinter of the Year and Junior Athlete of the Year, and will be competing in the Under 20 100m, 200m, and 400m and as part of the Canterbury 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
Sean is covering the longer distances, competing in the 5000m and 1500m. He was third in the 10,000m in 2017 and is the 2018 Canterbury Cross Country Champion. He is in the final year of a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree.
Dylan will be competing in the 800m and the 4x400m. He won the NZ Secondary Schools Senior Boy’s 800m in 2017, and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture) degree.
Andrew will be in the Under 20 triple and long jump, and the senior triple jump events. The Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture) student won a silver medal in the Under 20 triple jump last year.
Good luck to all the Lincoln students taking part.
