Lincoln students are getting a taste of how business works in markets around the world by utilising Prime Minister’s Scholarships for Asia and Latin America.
There are currently students in Brazil and others heading to China as part of Lincoln’s Summer School business courses. They are doing a 15 credit course that results in pitching an import or export opportunity.
A group of students will also visit South Korea, along with Massey University students for the second two-week part of a programme focussed on developing horticulture market opportunities, in this case apples.
The Brazil trip is for four weeks and is based around three universities in the southern states of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Santa Catarina.
The visit to China is for six weeks, the time split between two universities in Yunnan province and Fujian Province.
The students also visit businesses and markets, and meet farmers and producers to learn how local markets work, and to identify business opportunities.
In January, groups will also be heading to Thailand and Indonesia.
